My inspirations – Music
Ahh, music has always been so special to me. I am open to many different genres, however, in terms of playing, I must say that my favorite is jazz. Discovering my passion for jazz was a very special and important process for me. I can recall very well how, since I was very young I would play a game called ‘The Journey Down’, developed by Skygoblin. That game has had a huge impact on me, as it made me discover my passion for music (as most of the music in the game was jazz) which would continue on for years. It only truly hit me when I played back over the games when I was slightly older. There was just… something about the overall feel and atmosphere of the game, along with the brilliantly composed and played music that hit me, that affected me on such a personal level. Music really does have a big impact on my emotions… It was my dream to play the saxophone ever since. Of course, I couldn’t get it right away, but once I had the possibility to join an orchestra (Unfortunately, I cannot give you much info about this) I finally got what I had wished for years prior. I vividly remember how careful I was putting the saxophone together and how emotional I felt when I blew into it for the first time. Six years ago, I would have never imagined myself traveling and playing the saxophone in front of large audiences…
Another important point for me was when I went to see the band ‘Ghost’ perform live. I’ve loved their music for years and they’ve been a huge inspiration to me. I met the lead singer and honestly, it was such a powerful and memorable few minutes as I have finally met the person I have dreamed to play an instrument alongside someday… Later on, as I stood in the front row, I remember seeing Papa Nihil playing a saxophone solo on stage and feeling such an overwhelming rush of emotions and adrenaline thinking, ‘That could be me…’
